What it is
Nomi is an open-source, local-first AI video studio. Its agent plans the shots, generates keyframes and video, and lays them on the timeline. Users pay their provider directly, at the provider's price. Even the agent runs on the model the user picks, with no subscription and no markup.
Main features
The agent reads the canvas, splits the story into shots, generates keyframes, turns them into video, and arranges the timeline.
Users decide how much the agent asks: Ask each step, Auto-edit (paid generation still asks), or Full auto.
The storyboard puts each shot on one row, with prompt, first frame, model, and duration.
The 3D director poses characters, places cameras, and uses a phone as the viewfinder.
The model can be swapped on a single shot to generate another take.
Getting started
Type what to make into the agent panel, or start from a story in the storyboard.
Keep the takes you like, arrange the timeline, and export MP4.
When a new model ships, click Let AI connect it for me and let Claude Code or Codex wire it in.
Developer setup requires Node.js 20+ and pnpm.
git clone https://github.com/aqm857886159/Nomi.git
cd Nomi
corepack enable
pnpm install
pnpm develectron/ Electron main process, local runtime, storage, and model calls

Supported release targets are macOS arm64/x64 and Windows x64. Linux, Windows arm64, and macOS universal installers are not currently published. The current macOS build is not Apple Developer ID signed or notarized, so macOS may block it on first launch.
Do not disable Gatekeeper globally. The Windows installer has no Authenticode signature. In the SmartScreen prompt, choose More info and then Run anyway.
The connection flow looks up the endpoint, parameters and model IDs, has the user paste the key on Nomi's own page (the assistant never sees it), runs one real test, and lists the model once it works. A project is a plain folder on disk holding the canvas, storyboard, timeline, every generated file, and the exported film. No account is needed.
Nothing is sent by default; anonymous usage statistics are opt-in and can be turned off any time. The code is AGPL-3.0. Nomi does not offer a closed-source distribution that withholds the corresponding source code.
Contributors do not need to sign a CLA, and contributions are accepted under AGPL-3.0-only. Nomi ships an MCP server with 24 tools, so Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor can drive it while reusing the credits that come with an agent subscription. Everything the agent makes lands on the canvas, where it can be seen and changed.
