What it is
GitHub Stars Manager automatically syncs starred repos, uses AI to summarize and categorize them, and supports semantic search. Its frontend uses React 18, TypeScript and Tailwind CSS. The app has an optional Express + SQLite backend. The app also works without a backend, as a pure frontend using localStorage.
Main features
Release tracking filters assets by platform and file type, saves custom keyword rules, and downloads with one click, in the browser or straight into aria2.
Smart Asset Filters match assets by keywords such as dmg, mac, arm64 and aarch64.
When pushing to GitHub Lists, each local category is written back as a same-named GitHub List, with existing lists overwritten and missing lists created private by default.
Getting started
Pre-built backend and frontend images are available on GHCR, so no local build is required.
Alternatively, download the source code or clone the repository.
In the Docker quick start for the backend server, the frontend is on port 8080 and the backend is on port 3000.
To set up an AI service, open Settings, add an AI config, enter the endpoint and key, pick a model, then test the connection.
To set up WebDAV backup, open Settings, add a WebDAV config, enter the server URL, username, password and path, test the connection, then enable auto-backup.

npm install
npm run devWho it is for
The project lists developers with hundreds or thousands of stars as who it is for. It also lists people who systematically track releases. The Repository Q&A Assistant does not index the whole repository.
After the embedding model of Vector Semantic Search is changed, the index must be rebuilt, because different models produce incompatible vector dimensions. Find similar repositories requires Vector Semantic Search to be configured and enabled; without it, the action is unavailable. Pure frontend mode, with no backend, hides the MCP settings page.
The MCP token is separate from the backend API secret. Without a backend, data is stored in the browser's localStorage. The API secret variable is a Bearer token for API authentication, and authentication is disabled if it is unset.
The server port variable has a default of 3000. The author says the app is entirely written by AI, mainly for their personal requirement. The project is licensed under MIT.
